A landscape painting of rolling hills with patches of grass, shrubs, and trees under a cloudy sky.

My artist journey, spanning from the rugged landscapes of Western Canada to the serene countryside of the East, is a harmonious blend of inspiration drawn from the poetry of nature
and the textures of life's imperfections.

Hi!

I’m Allison.

ARTIST, MOTHER, EDUCATOR, SEEKER OF SERENITY.

I'm a semi-abstract landscape painter and portrait artist based near Montreal, in Saint Lazare, Quebec. Originally from Alberta, I draw inspiration from the vast prairies and the Rocky Mountains. After moving to Montreal, where my mother is from, I earned an associates degree in Illustration and Design from Dawson College. Despite initially planning to return to the West, I grew to love the lakes as much as the mountains and pastures. Living on both sides of the Canadian landscape has given me a deep appreciation for its beauty.

My artistic practice is rooted in nature, responding to the colours, energies, light, and textures of my surroundings. I've built a lifestyle around my art, finding inspiration in the ever-changing skies and the harmony of working from my barn studio, while raising my family.
Through my work, I aim to forge connections with viewers while staying true to myself.

“I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn’t say in any other way - Things I had no words for.”

The Inspiration

My art is deeply influenced by the quiet majesty of natural landscapes and the transformative power of solitude.

An open book with glasses resting on top, surrounded by a glass of water, an apple, and a floral vase on a beige cloth in an outdoor setting.
A narrow river flowing through a deep canyon with rocky, steep walls and sparse green vegetation.

Window to Serenity: Gazing out the window, I find inspiration in the quiet rhythms of nature and the openness of the landscape. Each painting is an invitation to pause, to experience the light, colour, and subtle details that make a place feel alive. I aim to create a sense of calm and connection, where viewers can immerse themselves in the gentle beauty of the natural world.

Process + Materials

Delving into my artistic process is like uncovering layers of time, with each stroke revealing a story.

Using loose brushwork and watered-down paint, I build depth and dimension, letting colours blend and interact in a delicate balance of light and shadow.

By carefully lifting pigment with sprays, I create transparencies that invite viewers to explore the layers of light, colour, and narrative within each painting.
